The International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) was founded in 2003 as training centre of the renowned German Ensemble Modern. It offers educational programmes for a wide range of target groups, from outreach projects and international masterclasses for instrumentalists to formats designed for young artists at the beginning of their professional careers. Each year, Gaudeamus Festival hosts several concerts by that year’s IEMA-Ensemble, in which 14 talented young musicians tour Europe and gain invaluable experience.
On the Friday of the festival, the ensemble takes the stage for a captivating lunchtime concert, featuring new works by Anne Castex, IEMA composer Haotian Yu and Akim Zvarych, who was chosen from an open call for Ukrainian composers. The programme also highlights compositions by Sing-Yat Chen and Anibal Vidal, both nominated for this year’s Gaudeamus Award.
This concert is part of the Ulysses Platform, co-funded by the European Union.
